The cost of providing one visit and two phone calls weekly comes to about $45, or $180 a month. Hyacinths Services is 100% volunteer driven, so we are very appreciative of anything you give. If you donate just $15 a month, it helps cover costs other than salary, costs that allow us to keep helping.

You may wonder why membership is important, especially when it's free. It demonstrates support, and it gives us permission to email you with news about Hyacinths Services and the people we serve. It is also a signal that we are doing something worthwhile and contributing to a stronger community.
Home Health Items
Seniors often pay a considerable percentage of their budget to products necessary to maintain their health. These products include acid reducers, pain relievers digestion aids, diapers, cheater glasses, and yes, hand soap, shampoo, deodorant, dry skin cream, and vitamins
Household Items
Seniors require the same cleaners, dish soap, detergent, dish towels, dish cloths, and other items as we do. These items have become more expensive lately and often present a problem for the elderly, who are concerned about the cleanliness of their homes, but also have to pay for food and medication.
Hobby Supplies
When your budget's tight, it doesn't allow room for pleasurable pastimes like crochet, knitting, art hobbies, because the supplies are simply too expensive. Aging often means loss of health, wellbeing, and people you love. It shouldn't mean you can't enjoy small activities that bring happiness.
Food
Insufficient food is a major concern for the elderly. They do not have the money to buy as much food as they used to and they may not have transportation to the grocery store or food pantry to pick up extra food. Malnutrition becomes a possibility when they eat foods that are cheaper.
Pro Bono Legal & Tax Services
Occasionally, we run into situations where seniors require assistance with legal issues and tax preparation. While there are organizations set up to provide this help, they are so overloaded with cases that the wait could be months, and it is sometimes difficult to access them by phone.
Quality of Life Gifts
The quality of one's life is just as important as having adequate food and shelter. Hyacinth's Services goes a step beyond by celebrating birthdays, providing socialization and learning activities, and giving people something to look forward to. We always need people to help with this.
