Volunteers are Angels in Disguise
Guidelines for Volunteering
Volunteering for Hyacinth's is a bit different than volunteering at other organizations. With the exception of the Home Visiting Program and the Good Morning Phone Calls, there is no specific date or amount of time that you must commit to. Offering to be a Hyacinth's volunteer means you agree to be contacted when there is need, not that you agree to the job before hand.
Every person we serve has different needs, and we won't know what they are until after the assessment is done. As we accept each person for service, their needs will be posted on the Volunteer Jobs page of the website and emailed to those who have given us permission to do so. It's up to you if you want to accept a volunteer assignment or not. Kind of like Uber or Lyft. You do as much or as little as your schedule will allow. As mentioned, the Home Visiting Program and Good Morning Phone Calls require a commitment to specific days and times, because we're establishing a relationship of trust. All requests for services by a senior or their family are placed on a wait list, as we cannot specify a date or time when volunteers will be available.
